An Enjolraic Sketchdump

I've been drawing Enjolras a lot lately. So much so that it might seem a little weird... It feels I can't get fed up with the character. So many different performances, so many different interpretations – and so many ways to poke a little fun at him! Here's a collection of Enjolrati I've drawn during the past few weeks.

Some explanations:
- The first Lamarque is dead part is very, very loosely inspired by our current Finnish Enjolras, Samuel Harjanne. He was, in my opinion, almost perfect in the role when I saw the Tampereen Teatteri Les Mis premiere. But, to my disappointment, his Enjolras has been getting a lot angrier since... Also, referencing The Hero of the Republic. To be quite honest, I see a bit of "my" Enjolras from my comics in Samuel's performance.
- Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.
- An attempt at cartoonifying Enjolrati from the recent Finnish productions (plus the design I used in my comics). The sketch labeled "Laurijolras" might require some explanation... Lauri Liiv is the alternate Enjolras in the current Finnish production and I still haven't managed to see him, despite having seen the show five times now. Hence the bar over his eyes.
- A friend requested me to draw "as manic an Enjolras as you can". Enjolras with a flamethrower is an image that probably won't leave my brain until I see it happen onstage for real.
- Edited to add: a doodle of Enjolras on his way to overthrow some governments. I had already submitted the first version of this sketchdump when I drew the last one, but I figured he fits here...

As you can see, my design for Enjolras keeps changing all the time. And it's hardly ever in line with the book. I just like drawing the Enjolrati inspired by the Finnish productions so much, I think their costumes and hairdos are a lot of fun to doodle. Maybe I'll try creating a book-inspired design for the character one of these days, but on the meanwhile, I'll keep drawing the Åbo Svenska Teater and Tampereen Teatteri versions...
