To be younger and fiercer and fly
So I've come to this. The Scarlet Pimpernel fanart.
I find The Scarlet Pimpernel, or at least the productions of it I've seen so far, rather dull as a whole. The music is mostly boring and I don't find the titular character nor the leading lady interesting in the least. But there's one aspect I really like – the character of Chauvelin here. Especially his solo Falcon in the Dive. And especially when he's played by Chris Murray, whose performance inspired this picture. The production that Murray stars, available in full on Youtube if you just search for the musical, is actually especially awful, in my opinion at least... But his performance is so much fun to watch! And then there's the song. One of the very best musical songs out there, if you ask me.
Or maybe I just have a thing for these French revolutionary types.
