This is my #LesMisClub Secret Santa gift for *TheWerewolfMustang, who wished for a picture with musical!Marius. I sketched this and then realized something - what if she doesn't like Éponine/Marius? I couldn't ask her, of course, without risking revealing my Secret Santa identity...
So, here's what I propose: every second day until December 25th, as a little gift to the whole Les Mis fandom, I'm going to submit a new Les Misérables mistletoe kiss. If you'd rather see Marius with someone else, keep checking back, he's going to return!

So, yeah. A series of Les Mis kisses! I won't promise to do every ship there is, I apologise already for those whose OTP I've neglected, I'll just do a random selection... Complete with a Hugonian-lenght ramble of my thoughts about the couple in question, of course!

So, Marius/Éponine?
Actually, if you remove the mistletoe, this is a 100% canon moment in ĹST Les Mis. Marius is a bit of a jerk there, to be honest. An adorable, perfectly awkward, gorgeous-voiced jerk - or, at the very least, the densest guy who ever lived. He hugs Éponine many times, and once, the moment pictured here, even kisses her when asking her to help him find Cosette... I have trouble believing someone would be so blind to the poor girl's feelings! But ĹST!Marius is so perfect in every other account that all is forgiven.
About the pairing itself... I don't think Marius and Éponine would be a good match, book or musical-verse. In the book it's slightly more obvious why their relationship wouldn't work out... And, even though it's slightly more plausible in the musical, I don't see it happening. They're from such different worlds, and I think Éponine's at least as much in love with the idea of being in love as she is in love with Marius.
So, not something I ship - but I liked drawing this picture. I think it's cute.

Hi Siiri :) (Or should I use Starlene :?, I'm Jaime btw :D ). It's really sweet of you to say :heart: I actually did send 3 over this last weekend :giggle: I don't know if their choices come from the week's submissions or whether they have a pool of the submitted stuff they like and put that up as the weeks pass.

And thank you so much for noticing my art; I get a few faves and such but very few drop a line :'(

And yeah, sorry, I admit I'm one of those who usually just look at your pics but don't say anything - I haven't, overall, been very active in dART lately... I'll try my best to comment on Les Mis art more during the holiday! :aww:

I love the look on her face and body language.

I think Marius really is kind of oblivious to things around him.

Funny thing about different interpretations: my mom and I went to see the show earlier this year, and neither of us really knew much about it or what to expect. We both left feeling confused, asking each other questions about what and why and trying to fill in the gaps. Then she asks me, "What was between Marius and Éponine? How do they know each other?" And I said that I thought they were friends. Then she tells me no, Éponine was a prostitute and Marius slept with her. I say, no no no. No, I think they're just friends. But she insists that they had once slept together. Of course, I couldn't absolutely refute her because I had no idea. But really. I don't know how she got that.

Haha, yeah, it's sometimes weird how different thoughts people can have, watching the same thing! That's one of the weirder ones I've heard, though...
Somehow reminds me of seeing Les Mis with my dad and him ranting on the way home how Marius should've chosen Éponine. My dad is an Eppie-bopper... :giggle:
