Requests continue. This was for someone who wanted to see Herbert from Tanz der Vampire trying on his dad's clothes. It was a surprisingly hard request - the scenario sounds good, but is very hard to make funny. I'm not sure I succeeded.
The first four costumes are Herbert's own clothes from different productions, of course. I hear the upper right hand corner is current non-German Tanzsaal, but I don't know which version the upper left hand corner is from (feel free to educate me). The rest are from the Finnish production. Magda's costumes, then - no. one tries to resemble the original, two and three are inspired by the Finnish show, four is directly from the Finnish Finale. Maybe it's just because that was my first (and, so far, only) Tanz... But I really like the Finnish design for Herbert a lot better. It's really over the top, but I think that suits the character. Forever a viscount, forever daddy's spoiled little princess... Somehow it makes sense that if he thinks it's fabulous, he wears it, no matter what others think.
Luckily, in my headcanon, Magda is there to befriend him and laugh at his silliest fashion mishaps.
I thought this was funny and I haven't even seen the show yet. I LOVE Magda's final pose! That's so excellent! Also, all her little 'considering' reaction faces. And... the more Herbert sketches I see, the more motivated I am to see this musical.
Haha, thanks, glad to be spreading the message about Tanz... (If you ever find a bootleg to watch, though, I've no idea if Herbert there corresponds to mine. I hear the Finnish version was quite unique!)
The upper left one appears to be the normal German one during the song Wenn Liebe In Dir Ist. At least it was 2009. I don't know, if they have changed it.
A blonde Magda... Mhhh... Well, something new and good
I like the way you draw them and the effort you put in the request. The outfits are great aswell. My favourite is the lightblue one of Herbert, the Russian version or something? And the violett dress of Magda
Her Tanz finale- version has got a weird hair, though.
Yeah, Magda was blonde in Finland - isn't she also blonde in some other production..? I guess they thought one redhead is enough!
And thanks so much! It's fun drawing different costumes, I think I liked drawing the light blue one the best... I've been told it's non-German Tanzsaal, so I guess they use it in the Russian version!
Magda was blonde in the broadway version. If you can count that as a version. Many people, even the creator of it, do not count it as a version.
I was trying to figure out a costume to dress a doll, Herbert. I just wanted to make Alferd one but Herbert has now taged along so has Korlock and Sarah. But anyway, I think I'm now going to have him wear the pink outfit. It was either a light blue one from a filmed version or the white shirt. But your drawing convinced me to go with the pink one, Thanks! Side note: I haven't started them yet, I still need to make a few Jekyll and Hyde dolls for when the tour comes near me, but I just wanted to get the concept drawing down.
Ooh, a Herbert doll in pink! Can't wait to see that, I bet it'll be amazing! Also, good luck with the J&H dolls! And about dolls – just thought to mention since you have made Les Mis ones too. There was an article about the upcoming Finnish production of Les Mis in a pretty big Finnish newspaper a couple of weeks ago. It mentioned that the show's a huge phenomenon and that there are fans who make things, like dolls, based on it. The doll-making part of the fandom is famous in Finland!

There's quite dark on the stage, but it looks like it's the one.
Upper left is form original (Vienna I guess):
